Marlene (Mickey) Thayer is a retired educator serving 21 years with the Lemoore Elementary School District. While teaching 5th grade classes, she also worked with students as their Student Body Advisor, coach of all sports, Spelling Bee Coordinator and was also a member of the Lemoore Union Elementary School Attendance Review Board (SARB).
She continued to serve as a member of SARB following her retirement.

In 2004, she was elected to the Kings County Board of Education.
